Margaret Newell - Architect AIBC, Leed AP
Margaret graduated from the Architecture Program at Heriot Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland, following completion of a Bachelor of Architecture with Honours (1987) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Architecture (1988). She has been involved in a variety of institutional, commercial, and residential projects in the UK, the US, and Canada. Arriving in Victoria in 1992, Margaret joined the Architectural Institute of British Columbia in 1993.
Projects completed on the Island include; University of Victoria Lam Student Housing and 'Ring Road' 294 - Bed Residence, various Bank of Montreal branches, Mount St. Mary Hospital Interiors, Island Farms Cold Storage, Broadmead Dementia Lodge Renovations, as well as various Aquatic Centers off-Island in Aspen, Colorado, and Aberdeen, Washington.
Joining Joe Newell Architect Inc. in 2008, Margaret has enjoyed working with many Vancouver Island non-profit societies, including the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul (Rosalie’s Village, Kirkpatrick Warehouse, Ozanam Centre Renovations), The Cool Aid Society (Access Health Centre, Queens Manor), M'akola Housing Society (Hope Centre, Braidwood Apartments) and the Capital Region Housing Corporation (Westview).
In each of her projects, Margaret encourages the participatory nature of the design process, working with the owner and/or end user to provide a tailored solution specific to their requirements.
Rob Pringle - Senior Architectural Technician
As one of the Senior Architectural Technologist in our firm, Rob is involved in many of the projects we design. Primarily organizing and executing the construction documents and coordinating with other consultants to ensure the highest quality of drawings, Rob is also responsible for providing technical input and drawing expertise during the design stages. His leadership on the Mill Bay Marina project was exemplary and it allowed the project to come to a successful conclusion even with a complicated program and a diverse and widely distributed consultant team.
Robert graduated from the Architectural and Building Technology program at the British Columbia Institute of Technology in 2004 and since then has been involved in a variety of institutional, commercial and residential projects on Vancouver Island. Prior to joining Joe Newell in 2006, he worked as a Technologist with Bas Smith Architect and Herbert H. Kwan Architect Inc. Some of Rob’s projects include working on Cottage Grove, and more currently 301 Nursery Hill Drive in View Royal.
Jordyn Erickson - Interior Designer / Technician
Jordyn first joined the team as an Intern Designer in 2013. This position later turned into Interior Designer/Architectural Technician in the fall of 2014, after completing her Bachelor of Interior Design from Vancouver Island University in Nanaimo, BC and gained her NCIDQ Certification in 2017.
She has been involved in a variety of institutional, commercial and residential projects. Completed projects that Jordyn has been a part of include: The Hope Centre, Rosalie’s Village, Cottage Grove Apartments, La Roux Patisserie, the Victoria Branch of the BC SPCA, and Joe Newell Architect’s new office in View Royal.
Nidaa Al-Dujaili - Interior Designer / Technician
With a Master’s Degree in Architecture in the UAE and over 20 years of experience, including 6 years in BC, Nidaa is the newest member of our team since December 2017. She brings with her a wide range of experience, including interior & kitchen design, graphic design, and a wealth of residential design experience. Responsibilities at our firm include Interior Design, Graphic Design, and Technical Drafting.
