Sooke Hope Centre
Affordable Rental Housing
Location: Sooke
The Hope Centre in Sooke contains 25 suites of affordable housing for homeless native youth managed by M'Akola Housing Society. In addition, the Society of St Vincent de Paul will continue to operate a thrift store in a larger space on the ground floor of the building, along with a Social Concerns Office. A space will be reserved for the use of alternative native school programs and college programs operating in the Sooke area.
The project was built using grants from BC Housing, as well as through the fundraising of the Societies. This project was one of those identified as being a top priority in helping to address and end homelessness in the Capital Regional District, and is the first project to commence design and construction from that list of 5 high-priority projects.
The project includes an underground parking garage, as well as 4 stories of above-ground construction. It was completed in 2013.
